Why has this course been developed?
Caring for Our Well-being’ is a new course which has been developed in response to a need in the community for short courses whose particular focus is supporting people to take charge of their own well-being. Most people in their lives have experience of mental and emotional distress. Sometimes, people go through periods of significant distress which affects their health and well-being.
A supportive space where people are facilitated to build their resources and resilience can be very helpful. In 2013/2014, experienced SHEP tutors facilitated two pilot ‘Caring for Our Well-being’ community courses. These courses were very positively received and this new course draws on the experience of the participants and of the facilitators of these courses.
