Mens Well-being

Sometimes its difficult to find places where you feel able to talk about issues that concern you such as your role as a man in a changing world, family issues and dealing with stress. Perhaps you’re beginning to think more about your health and keeping it. You would like to meet other men so that you can share, discuss and explore what matters to you.

This course involves a learning approach quite different from what most people probably experienced in school. The men in the group bring a wealth of life experience and this approach enables them to learn from their experience, as well as the experience of others in the group.

Topics

Topics will be determined by the needs of each group and will be explored through discussion, sharing of experiences, input from the tutor and practice in such things as relaxation techniques. The following are topics that may be included:

  • Listening and communicating
  • Managing stress
  • Mental and emotional health
  • Assertiveness and health
  • Handling feelings
  • Understanding what blocks us in life
  • Handling criticism and praise
  • Dealing with conflict
  • Building self-confidence
  • Making good decisions
  • Setting goals
