The Association of Friends Welcomes You
The Association of Friends is a recent development in SHEP. Many ideas have been put forward as to what purposes it should serve. Ultimately, however, the Association will reflect the interests and energies of its members.
The Association has two broad aims. The first relates to the support we can give to the Project and the second to the support we can give to each other.
Supporting the project is important as The Health and Education Project is a not-for-profit charity so any support we can give it will help maintain low overheads and enable it to minimise the cost of its important programmes. An example of this kind of support is the construction of this web site. Although it has been a long and difficult road with some steep learning curves for us, it shows how we can assist and promote the project. This site will be an ongoing venture for the Association as it will need to be maintained and updated. If you are interested in getting involved in this work, please drop us an email. No experience is required as full training will be given. As needs arise, the Project will ask the Association for support with other things and any such requests will be posted on the site. If you are interested in getting involved keep an eye on these pages.
The second broad aim of the Association is to provide support for each other. This can take many forms, from informal social gatherings to specific activities like book or film clubs, hill-walking, and groups for discussion or mutual support. There are limitless possibilities but it will be the members of the Association themselves that will shape it as they take their ideas forward.
